THE GO (IGO) PROJECT

INTRODUCTION:

During the early 2000 I met up with Peter Wendes, he was very interested in the Board game GO.  I had a look at the tactile set that he had with him and was hooked.

Unfortunatly, my time was not completely my own and it is only now that I can devote more energy in to promoting Go for the visually impaired in the UK.

Peter has already done a lot of work but I would like to add my time in helping him with this project.

GO is probably one of the oldest board games in the World approximately 4 - 3000 Years old, originally from China and reaching Japan during the Fudal period becoming an instqant success.

When I was a boy during the 60's I found a GO set in the RNIB Catalogue, I wish that I had bought a set then.

Tactile sets are extremely hard to get hold of, Peter gave me a 9 - 9 set but, over the years it has got lost.

The aim of this page is to create a place for resource for all people who wish to take up the game of GO "The Mental Martial Art."

once I have much more information I will add more details to this page.

Please click on the link below to get more information from the British Go Association.

You can also contact me on the phone Number on the front of this website or Email me by pressing the link on the front page.

This link will take you to a very comprehensive website everything you need to know about the Game os GO

NOTE:

Once you are on the website go to their search engine and type:  go for the blind

You should get the information from there.

If not, go to a standard search engine and type the above phraise and you should get there in the end.

It may be of interest to some people to know that the founder of Aikido played GO there are other terms for the game such as IGO etc.

This page is mainly designed for people who have a visual impairment:  however, GO is for everyone no matter what handicap they have or, what level they can play.  Go can be enjoyed by literally everyone and is certainly very good for keeping the brain healthy.
