January 2023 Archive

Welcome to the January 2023 archive for Norwich Aikido Academy. If you’re curious about what went down at the start of the year, you’ve landed in the right spot. This page gathers everything we shared in January, from class schedules to special workshops.

What you’ll find (or what’s missing)

At the moment the archive is empty – we didn’t publish any blog posts or news updates in January. That doesn’t mean nothing happened, though. Our mats were busy with regular classes, kids sessions, and a few private lessons. While we didn’t post any articles, the training itself kept moving forward.

Why the archive matters

Archives help you trace the evolution of our academy. Want to see how our training approach has changed? Curious about past event dates? You can flip through other months to get a sense of our rhythm. Each month’s collection gives you a snapshot of class times, special seminars, and community highlights.

If you’re new to Aikido, checking past archives can answer common questions. Did we hold a beginner’s workshop in February? When did we host a guest instructor from Tokyo? The answers live in other archive pages, so you can spot patterns and plan your own schedule.

Looking for tip‑of‑the‑day articles? Those usually land in the “Blog” section, not the archive. However, the archive does point you toward the months when we posted training advice, nutrition notes, and mindset tricks. For instance, March 2023 is packed with post‑class recovery guides that many students found useful.

Even though January’s list is blank, we still want to give you value. Below are a few quick pointers you can apply right now, based on what we teach in every class:

  • Start each session with a few deep breaths – it clears the mind and readies the body.
  • Practice the basic footwork (taisabaki) at home for five minutes a day. Consistency beats intensity.
  • Pair a simple Aikido technique with a stretching routine; flexibility makes throws smoother.
  • Keep a training journal. Jot down what felt good, what was tricky, and any questions that pop up.

These habits mirror the content we usually share in our posts, so you get a taste of the advice you’ll find later in the archives.

Ready to see more? Browse the 2023 February or 2023 March archives to discover tutorials, event recaps, and student spotlights. Each month tells a story of progress and community spirit.

Got a question about a specific class or upcoming event? Drop us a line through the contact form or pop into the studio. We love hearing from fellow Aikido enthusiasts and are happy to fill in any gaps the empty archive might leave.

Stay tuned – we’ll add fresh posts every month, and the January 2023 slot will eventually fill with new memories. Until then, explore the rest of the site, sign up for a trial class, and experience the energy that keeps Norwich Aikido Academy moving forward.

Martial Arts: Who created aikido?

Martial Arts: Who created aikido?

Aikido was created by Morihei Ueshiba, a Japanese martial artist and founder of the Aikido school, in the early 20th century. Ueshiba studied many martial arts, including swordsmanship, spear fighting, and jujutsu, and combined them all into Aikido. His goal was to develop a martial arts form that would allow a defender to neutralize an attack without causing harm to the attacker. Aikido is a non-aggressive form of self-defense that is based on the principles of harmony and peaceful resolution.
